Default Numeric keypad

OK, I haven't yet jumped into the BB waters, but got real freaked last week looking at a Storm, and found that the 'numeric' keypad is just another phone pad. I'm a numbers guy. Numeric is 123 at the bottom and 789 at the top. Phones are the opposite. Is this how BB thinks numeric keypads work? Or is there a workaround/program, etc. for a fix. Surely the accountants and engineers of the world use BB's...and we don't work on phone pads.
