Default New Storm User Questions

Hi,

I have very recently purchased a Storm - this is my first Blackberry. Prior to this I was using the Nokia N95 - very good phone. I decided to upgrade to the Blackberry for the better email functionality but I have a few questions. I hope you can help.

1) I am not on BES. As part of sending emails from the Blackerry, I would like it to automatically copy/send the mail to the "sent items" folder in Outlook on my computer. In other words, the mail sent from the Storm automatically appears in the sent items folder in Outlook. I have looked over the phone but cannot see any specific setting. I am on POP so I do not think this possible? My N95 had an option to copy sent item to self.

2) Blackberry maps. I was trying to use the maps today for a jouney alomg with GPS. The GPS worked very well but the maps would not refresh. It looked as if the maps were being dowmloaded from the network as we went along and was not quick enough to keep up with our movement - result was that it was totally useless. I had assumed that the maps were already downloaded but it does not look like it. I had to download Nokia maps on the N95 so do I have to do the same here? I do not have a memory card fitted, whether take makes a difference?

3) Google maps. As above for downloading. Also, GPS does not seem to be an option on this, is this normal?

Thanks for any input.

Cheers
Mark

Spatch,

#1. I think the only way you can do that is to register with BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) and then set that action up in your filter.

I have a filter set up in BIS to prevent the service from sending duplicate copies of sent emails to my phone. However, I am somewhat sure you can configure your filter to do exactly what you wish. I posted a thread with a link to the webpage where you identify your provider to BB and configure your filter. My issue was with Gmail.

#2. I don't use my phone as a GPS nor the services offered through Verizon. I have a GPS unit in my car dedicated for that purpose and it does a phenominal job. I suggest not depending upon a cellular phone in such a manner.

Spatch,

I couldn't find my thread but I researched the matter and found some people who asked similar questions on the Vodafone forum. Go to the homepage link below and do a search in the "Help Centre"

Vodafone - Mobile Phones, Mobile Internet, Broadband & Email

Additionally, the below link discusses how to set up the filter to solve a duplicate email issue. However you can try reconfiguring the filter to achieve the results you desire. If you are registered with RIM, you can use your same email address and password to access the BIS server to set up your filter. The link below describes the filter process.

Here is the link to begin the process of logging into BIS. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the particular carrier you use to access cellular services.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Internet Service Support

Good luck!
