Question New User needs advice...please

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I've jumped into the 21st century and gave up my Samsung Alias AND 8 year old Palm M515 for a BB Storm. The learning curve was not too steep and things are progressing. From what I can see the BB native calendar is a bit too cumbersome and limited.

This may be because I have been using Mr. Dewar's wonderful DateBook app on my Palm. Unfortunately Pimlico Software isn't doing anything with BlackBerry, so I would like to find another calendar application that would give me the same or at least similar functionality and capability.

I would also like to be able to use a desktop calendar on my PC and edit, add and view the calendar on my desktop as well as on the handheld. And, of course, sync between the two.

There must be some 3rd party calendar appplications out there and I'd appreciate some information/advice, etc. about them.

Thanks for your assistance...

If you are using Outlook and/or Google you can sync them with your BB. Additionally, I use Outlook at work and whenever I add and appointment or meeting in it I simply "invite attendee" to my BB E-mail address then accept it when I check my BB e-mail and it automatically adds it to my BB Calender.

I am not sure what specific functions you are looking for and if you could be a little more specific on what feaatures you require, they have a ton of folks here with a vast array of experiences who can offer you a lot of input and insight.

Oh yea - Welcome to the site and to the BB world

Wirelessly posted

Agendus, by Iambic, is available. I used it for many years on my Palm. The BB version is not as robust, but I'm sure it will get there.

RJLOMMD,

#1. I have my Gmail account with Google Calendar synced with my Storm and it runs flawlessly. The emails snap to my phone FAST. You will also have to set up a filter with RIM if duplicate sent emails from your phone annoy you. My Storm calendar is synced with my Google Calendar. I make all my entries via PC or MAC and then run sync on my phone - everything pops in flawlessy.

If you run the Grungy Gant theme (a free app on Crackberry) you can thumb your calendar icon in the dock and your closest appointments will pop up on the home screen. REAL NICE!

#2. Here is a link to a Crackberry forum page with a ton of links to free third party apps.

Thank you for your replies and for the information. I see where another poster asked almost the same question. I guess what I am looking for is the ability to enter my calendar items either on the computer or on the handheld and allow the sync process to keep both up-to-date. The Agendus mentioned by Kenward1 looks interesting and I'll check it out.
I will share whatever I do decide to do and I am sure I'll have many more questions before I feel totally comfortable. Why its just like posting on Brighthand forums almost a decade ago!
