Default Saving numbers to new contacts - always "Work"?

Please Login to Remove!

Whenever I add a new number by first entering the number, or from my call log, the number is automatically added to the "Work" field, and I have to cut and paste it into a different field if applicable, as per usual.

Is there any way around this? It's almost as idiotic as not being able to add a number from a call log directly to a contact via the BB key.

As far as I know, there is no way around that. You'll just have to cut and paste.

I wonder if this is BB's way of showing how easily they can beat Apple, by acting as they do -- "We know it doesn't make sense, but we run the show, so deal with it."

BB's are really more of a business app. device, so the default field was programmed to be Work. I just live with it and consider the mobile slot for numbers other than Work. No c & p to do.

Previously I was using Blackberry 8120 an it had adding contact from the call feature. Now I switch to 9500, this one doesn't have. That means in the future releases the feature will come...

That makes no sense from a progress perspective, as operating system development shouldn't skip over features that are already in house. I won't believe for a second that it's a difficult feature to implement.

And as fro BB being a business tool, that may make sense as to why it's the default type, but only if it's the default type in a pop-up menu. If they were going to force you to edit the type later, as they are with the Storm, it would only make sense if Business was the type 90%+ of new number additions.

The suggested app looks alright, but I add more contacts by keying in the number, then adding to contacts, rather than from the call log. I'll pass, but thanks for the suggestion.
