Not sure exactly what you mean...Are you talking about extending the amount of text that will display in the "Today" section of the homescreen?

No, what I mean is that how do i reduce the actual width of the "Today" section, so that I can have icons docked vertically.

In Plazmic if you click on the rearrange items button not only can you move the Today modules around you can also stretch them. If you place icons alongside them you will have to change the Today module caret graphic to one that is not as wide or it will render over your other icons.
