Default 5 Days In... and LOVING IT

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I've had my storm for 5 days now, and believe me after reading all the negative reviews and ranting and "I'm returning my storm" post, I almost didn't do it. I was about to go from curve to bold, then I remembered I like to live on the edge so I took the plunge into the storm...

I have to say, all those naysayers need to go fly a kite. I LOVE MY STORM and outside of a manufacturers fault, I will never return it. I can't keep my hands of it. Granted I got mine with .75 preloaded so maybe I escaped all of the initial frustrations, but even so, we all know that every OS will address most current complaints. So it will just keep getting better and better.

The biggest challenge was typing on the touch screen, but I knew there would be a learning curve BEFORE I bought it. I'm getting more proficient as every day goes by with the touchscreen. I'm so confused by all those people returning because they can't type as fast as they could on their older models...ummmm, do they realize in 2 years EVERY mobile device would be touchscreen.

I am a bit slower at typing, mainly because I just got the device, but it does prevent me from typing while driving at night on a wet road... so that a bad thing, I think not.

All in all I am ecstatic over my new blackberry storm, and it far exceeds the capabilities of all my past 4 BB models. And once again, RIM has made a believer of me.

I'm out.

Default Day 2

I'm only on Day 2 and can say that the learning curve on the touch screen keyboard was much shorter than the reviews led me to believe.

I've upgraded from a *gasp* LG Chocolate and have used several of my friends' iPhones. With this in mind, I can say that I can certainly type faster on the Storm than the Chocolate and probably just as fast as when on the iPhone.

The laggy feeling throughout the UI is my biggest complaint. I expect things to react nice and snappy, even if it is just some sort of notification that says "Please wait." I don't like the feeling of pushing and button and not knowing if it registered or not.

At any rate, I have 28 more days to decide whether I want to keep the Storm or settle for a Curve (no Bold yet for us Verizon folk). I've got a feeling I'll stick with the Storm, though.

Default What you need to do...

First .. you don't really feel the Storm and value what it truely offers till like week 2. The first couple weeks it was hard to not just hop back to the Bold I have sitting in my desk. The nice screen is what keeps me as well adjusting to working on the storm and not working on a previous model BB (you need to adjust to the way storm works and it's strengths vs. trying to make it work like a classic BB or gasp the iPhone)

Then - dump as much of the Verizon stuff as you can. VZ Navigator slows down the device, Visual voice mail .. their theme. Delete anything you will not use so you get the most memory.

Next adjust to the noted typing adjustments noted on here. Definately helps email composing.

Kick the screen brightness down (I'm at 10 and it's still bright for me) - save yourself some battery life.
