Hi . . I was wondering if the storm does Name / number read out when a person calls? Both my old LG phones did this. . . If it can't do this is there a app for it?

Yes, you mean Caller ID? Absolutely.

Look what a search found in our FAQ:
[newapp] caller id swap, call recorder, voice changer & more.. free!

Guess i should explain better.

When my friend Steve called on my LG. . . It would say "Incoming call from Steve Moblie"

or if a person called not on my contact it would read out the number. "Incoming call from 555 - 555 -1234

Good idea, always helps.

That is an issue with your carrier, or your caller restricting identity.

Are you asking if it would display that on your screen or give you an audible alert of the number calling? You actually hear a voice saying "Incoming call from Steve Mobile"?

i'm pretty sure it does. if i don't have a number stores it says "555-555-5555" or if i'm getting a call from a contact it says:

Mitchell Goosen
555-555-5555 (Mobile)
[Company]

My storm does not talk to me when some calls. It only shows their identity on the screen ....

AHHHH, key word here is "audible" , or spoken.

Your Storm will not do that automatically, UNLESS you record individual files for each and set the alert for each contact as a ringtone, such "Steve is calling", "Bob Jones is call", etc.

That is a pretty ingenious workaround! I may mess around with this a bit and test it out.

I've done it for a few a year ago, sat at my computer with Audacity and a mic, read about a dozen names into it, cut the MP3s and copied to my BB, and then assigned each to its appropriate contact. I got bored with it.

I think this may be easier now if using the voice notes recorder.

the blackberry platform is sorely lacking text to speech capabilities. Almost every other platform has it. About the only thing I miss from WinMo and Symbian.
