Wirelessly posted (9530)

Depends on ur taste...
A good compromise between cost, comfort and sound quality would be either a blueant v1 or plantronics voyager 835...
U can find them on amazon for good prices
i used to have a discovery 640, a jawbone and now a blueant....
Overall i liked the plantronics and blueant...
i prefer a snug fit with a soft eartip that goes as far into the ear as possible.
i also think that jawbones are way too expensive and u might not like the fit

The units worth mentioning are: Jawbone 2, Plantronics Discovery 925, BlueAnt V1, Jabra BT530.

I posted a round up of these 4 devices here: blue tooth help

nice review....

personally, when i bought my original jawbone, found it very uncomfortable and had to bend and twist the earhook in many different ways...after bending a few to the point of breakage, i came up with a shape that would hold the headset against my ear tightly, but the dam thing was a pita to put on my ear while driving....

then when emailing aliph about eartips, they told me i should go out and buy some jabra eartips and try those to see if it's more comfortable.

so for the $ 130 that i paid for the original jawbone about 1 yr ago, i went thru all this hassle and was told by the manufacturer that i should use a competiors' eartips. don't you think they made enough money from the original jawbone to improve and offer more eartips for it's customers ?

last part of my rant here, that small contact on the jawbone/jawbone 2 that's meant to touch your cheeck (for the noise cancellation to work right)....if you're a male and you have scruff or decide to grow a beard...what then ?

personally i'd put a larger emphasis on cost...

Very good points Zero. I tend to keep some scruff, and the Jawbone sensor is annoying.

I use the Jabra BT530 90% of the time, and my wife loves the Plantronics 925, both are very good, comfortable, and do not use an over the ear loop which is nice for people that wear glasses of any kind.

yeah...um...somehow i think asking ppl to cough up 130 $ for a headset, then telling them to go pick up some competitor's eartips to make it comfortable-enough to use....doesn't boil over well with me.

so Aliph is on my blacklist....

i recently lost my jawbone (good riddance)...so before i bought a new one, i made sure i looked for as many pics as possible of the headset to be sure it would be comfy....
i liked the adjustability of the blueant v1's earhook and i also liked the kind of eartips that it came with, so i bought that from amazon for 65 $

Two issues I had with the BlueAnt V1, the tip/charger is different than that on my 8900 and Bold, while the Plantronics and Jabra is MicroUSB (same as 8900). Also the V1's lack of stereo audio profile, multipoint, and dedicated on/off switch (all present on the BT530) made it a no-go for me. The lack of multipoint on the V1 is really puzzling since the z9i has it.

On the positive side for the BlueAnt, it seems to be a "Jack of all trades" when dealing with different audio situations, and I did like the voice prompts.

I've got the Jawbone 2 and Plantronics 925. Both are about the best you can get in a bluetooth headset at the moment. I wasn't aware of those beta ear gels until now. I just ordered a set from Jawbone's website for $3.25 shipped. I hope they work as well as advertised. I'm also looking forward to the Blueant Q1, due later this ear.
