Default Send & receive SMS from desktop PC

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,
This is my first post. I am a new BlackBerry Storm user & I have read many posts on this forum which have been extremely helpful.
Does anyone know if it is possible to send & receive SMS while the BlackBerry is connected to the desktop PC, using the PC's keyboard as an input device?
Thanks,
Angelo Sartore

From what I can tell, this is not doable. :(

I have had some success with this software. I'm no expert so please don't expect too much support but I have got it working and despite what appear to be some development issues, it does work. I send group sms messages to my whole contact list every week to plug my band!

It's possible to receive messages while your BB is connected, but the notifications are turned off except for the LED. I haven't tried to send SMS, but from my experience I can tell you that the received SMS' are there.

Hi Pirlok - I think the question relates to a software interface that allows you to operate the phone's sms system from the comfort of your computer keyboard, hence the suggestion to install QuickerSMS. I hope other users will find this as helpful as I have.

Hi midlandaudio - I think you are just a spammer. I also think you should stop doing that.

Angelo, the solution to your problem might be found in Quicker SMS Download Quicker SMS 2.2.3 for Blackberry Free Trial - Quicker SMS is a software which allows you to send SMS on your PC. - Softpedia

How is offering someone a solution taken to be spam? I'm trying to be helpful and my answer (unlike yours) was relevant to the question.

I await a reply, and hopefully a more polite welcome to the forum!

From reading some other threads there is also Virtual Dock software which you will find easily by google. I have emailed them today to ask how it can be registered as this is not clear from the website. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip midlandaudio, it was definitely a valid and interesting one, in my opinion. I haven't heard of this app, have you used it before? And welcome to the forums.

I have used QuickerSMS and found it functional if a little basic - still being developed I think but at the time was the only one I found that could do what I wanted.

I found out about Impatica viaDock today which is not yet released but I emailed them and they gave me a 30 day trial reg code. Haven't had chance to play with it yet but will do on Thursday. (NOTE: viaDock has replaced Virtual Dock to which some other threads have links). Not trying to be a smarty-pants, I just discovered that today!

Will let you know how I get on with it.

Cheers
Neil (midlandaudio)

Neil, I saw that in the other thread you posted in. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to check back as I'm traveling to see how it goes. Thanks!
