I have never had any problem with mine as soon as I hit the button, it says "Say a command".. Did you try the famous battery pull yet?

There are many users having difficulty along this line. Push the talk button on your BT and it will say "intializing, please wait." You have a full white screen and nothing happens. You can push your talk button again and it will return to the home screen. Only way to make a call via BT when that happens is after a battery pull.

VZ tech wants me to call tonight and they will walk me through wiping my device which I do not care to do.

There are many posts on this suject and the consensus seems to be it is the OS.
