Default OS: 9530 4.7.0.172/4.7.0.122 (MutliLanguage) - 04-16-2009, 08:14 AM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.172 (Multilanguage)
From Bell Mobility of Canada, for the 9530

Package Version: 4.7.0.172
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.7.0.122
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.153
* File name: 9530AMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel172_PL4.0.0.153_A4.7.0.122_Be ll_Mobility_Inc.exe
* File size: 104.43MB
Download HERE

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9530:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the earlier releases of this OS, see:

EDGE for me on this has been as stable as any other releases--once it grabs EDGE, it just takes longer to do it (in my experience; I have been using this release about 4 days).

wow, 4 days....

what happens if you do a battery pull or soft reset after these 4 days, does it take another 4 days to get EDGE back steady ?

i tried swapping out the radio file to the radio from .113...EDGE is more stable, so far...

Does this fix up the problem with the "Try It" tests for setting ring tones and ring tones not working when applied?

Anyone else getting an error message as soon as you click on the downloaded file? The message says "Error extracting setup initializing file".

.109 has been good to me, but i still need to pull the battery every couple days. Soooo, I'm gonna give this one a shot. LONG overdue even though I'm speaking to the choir. And not even from verizon.... tsk tsk!!! Shame on you people! My granny would have taken a cast iron skillet to your head a LONG time ago!!!!

I tried several times and I still get the same error. I was having trouble getting the DM installed so I thought it was somehow related to that but after uninstalling and installing DM, the error continues.

Edit: Upon further review, it looks like I'm having trouble donwloading the complete file as every time it ends (it does say 100% completed) the file size varies but is always around half of the listed size.

Edit 2: Used IE instead of Firefox and the complete file was downloaded this time. Processing installation as we speak.

Took awhile to upgrade - had to reinstall DM. All is well now - seems great.

Seems to be a worthwhile upgrade for CDMA users, with EDGE being selective.

I had trouble with this OS because I didnt do it originally as a "clean" install.
I had to go back & wipe everything and then reinstall it. Now its running like a charm!

Well, I got it installed and everything seems to be fine so far. Its only been 3 hours, but no reboots needed as yet. I did have an EDGE problem when I was using BerryTunes. IT turned from EDGE to edge. Perhaps I will swap radio files as you did.

let me know how it works out for you....
i still stand by .76 as the most stable for tmob and at&t users with the 9530.

btw, i remember you were trying to get AIM to load and retain your browser too...

i just installed AIM from app world last night and it works, and i have a browser too...

i think tmob updated their service books or something, because earlier yesterday i resent them (before i downloaded AIM)....

Wiped my phone last night and installed this OS. So far so good, but too soon to come to any conclusions.

I upgraded from BBCrackman's .114 Hybrid v3 earlier this afternoon. So far, I haven't found any problems and .122 fixed one major annoyance I had with 114v3. That was, no matter what I did, the screen would dim after about 10 seconds of inactivity and, seemingly, stop updating, then finally go completely blank after 30 or 45 seconds. With .122, it does not dim until it's supposed to - i.e. just before it turns off completely. I have my Screen Options set for backlight timeout after 45 seconds, and now, with .122, it dims then goes completely back all within a second or two, right around 45 seconds after the last time I touch the screen or press any buttons.

The following apps appear to still work just fine:

Google Maps (and Latitude)
vlingo
TetherBerry (I even re-activated on my BES by connecting my BB to my laptop and tethering my laptop to the BES through TetherBerry - couldn't do THAT using VZW dial-up tethering!)
BerryTunes
Facebook
MySpace
Poynt
WeatherBug (v0.1.0.274)
Visual Voice Mail

I'm looking forward to seeing if anything is different. The last few upgrades I have done have all seemed almost identical to each other. Lately I've noticed that my battery life seems a little worse with .122, though.

Upgraded for .076 so this is a big jump for me but 2 days on it and seems stable enough for me to run for a while.

I'm also having trouble downloading from this site. I have tried 2 different browsers (IE and Firefox) over a DSL line from California and I get an error half way through.

Yep it happened again. Could the site be overloaded? I tried changing the save name in case it was too long and it was giving Vista problems.

Here is what the error said:
"could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

This time I only got about 12% done.

Could someone upload it to a file sharing site maybe?

It took over an hour and several attempts, but I was finally able to get it downloaded. Something seems different about the upgrade process too...

Yeah, still running .122 and not really sure what happened. I'm wondering if maybe the download didn't work after all. :(

I've been running .122 now for a few days and I can say it seems more smooth, stable, and fixed my memory leak issues. I'm super pleased with this release.

What "multi language" are supported with this release? Any support for east-Asia languages inputs, such as Chinese?
