Well, phone has been great as I'm sure some of you know from my previous postings. the .113 has been doing wonders for me. No problems whatsoever.......until NOW. BUT, it's not because of .113. You see, I now have 2 (2 inch long) hairline glass cracks (fractures) underneath my storm screen. Have I dropped it? No, did I abuse it? No. Did I make love with it? Well we won't answer that last one lol but the point is the phone is now severely damaged. The touchscreen (about 75%) of it will not recognize any of the icons.
I press my facebook Icon, it chooses my SMS icon. I could barely get into options to the wipe the phone (verizon tried to have me do it) Reason I say tried is because when I tried to type in the word to confirm the wipe, I pressed the 5 or (B) key and it wouldn't do a dang thing lol. Wow, so anyways, Verizon was very nice to me. They are sending me another phone (refurb certified he said ) UGH of course, but hey, a replacement nonetheless. I did a fresh backup seconds ago.
I do have a question about the backup. Do the backups backup my pictures as well? Reason I ask is I want to keep some pictures that I have on there of me and my GF's 1st anninversary night out and I can't email them to my email now because the freaking phone doesn't respond to any touches :( Rest assured though when the new one comes in tomorrow (yes overnight baby) then I will upgrade to .113 again LOL Hopefully I will have the same luck with it that I had with this one.
One more thing which most of you have heard already. The rep (without me asking) told me many of the problems with the Storm are about to be abolished through the new software update coming out. He said it will be this month, however, he did not specify which OS version. Have a nice day all and please have sympathy and a moment of silence for my poor BB :(
A backup will not backup your Media Card. Remove that yourself before sending the old one in.
Copy off any pictures from your device memory.
Do a full backup in Desktop Manager, AND sync to Outlook if you do that. Look on your PC and confirm you have saved the IPD backup file and that you know where it is located, for a restore when the new one arrives.
If you have both devices at the same time, use the Switch Device Manager in DM.
Yes, I will have both of them so I will try that switcher. I will take out my media card and switch it into the new phone. Thanks for the tips. Luckily, I know where my .ipd files are located as I do frequent backups
One question though, when you say copy off any pictures in device memory, how do I do that? I probably know how already but without being able to use the touchscreen hardly at all, it's hard for me to picture it. Thanks.
Connected to your USB > PC, you should see TWO drive letters appear in your My Computer. One is the Media Card, one is the built-in device 1gb memory. Make sure anything you have stored on the built in device memory is copied.
Ah, thank you. EDIT. Well, I just went and checked and it shows device memory but only a documents folder underneath it. I have like 20 pictures in my device memory. Why are they not showing up in my computer underneath the proper folder? UGH
