Default Using and Synchronising Docs to Go

Please Login to Remove!

I'm migrating from a Palm TX where I used DataViz Docs to Go, there was a desktop component where I identified the files I wanted to be placed on the Palm TX. I could make changes as I walked around with the docs and whenever I synced the Palm, the data was automatically synchronised to the desktop and vice versa. I see that the Storm has Docs to Go. How do I put docs from my desktop onto the Storm, and can it synchronise the files between the Desktop and the Storm?

I just drag and drop the files. When you connect your Storm to your computer (either PC or Mac) your Storm will ask if you want to enable mass-storage mode for the SD card (something like that). Select yes and your SD card will show up a hard drive either within explorer or finder. I put my documents in a folder called 'Documents' (very original, I know) under the Blackberry folder on the SD card.
On a side note I use Docs To Go pro version for Storm and find it to be an invaluable tool. It doesn't do any auto-syncing that I've found, but I could be wrong.

The storm automatically creates its Documents folder...simply drag and drop!

So let me understand, what you're saying is that I can drop Word, Excel & Power Point files onto the Storm and work make changes to them, but there's no facility on the Storm or Desktop to sync them between the deskto pand the Storm, so I have to manage the versions myself like when I carry around files on a flashdrive? I can do that, no probs, but I would have preferred for the software to manage them for me, that would have been easier.

I thought that I would have had to use the media manager for that.

Hold on. I was going fine then I observed that this doesn't happen. I dont remember ever getting a prompt about mass-storage mode. When I connect the Storm I get a prompt just like I get when I stick a USB drive into the PC, then I see the Storm as a phone Icon in My Computer, when I double click the icon opening I see "device memory" and "media card" folders. Opening the media card folder I see a "music" where I have my music, but I don't se anything else. If I open the device memory folder, I see nothing.

However, if Desktop Manager is open and the Media Manager is open something different happens. When the Media Manager if I go to "my computer" I see two additional drives Blackberry1 and Blackberry2, one for the media card and another for the device memory. If I open either of these folders I see all the subfolders that I expect to see. But only when the Media Manager is open

What's up with this?

Mass Storage Mode needs to be turned on by you.
On the device, set:
Options > Memory > Mass Storage Mode Support = On

You might also want to set:
Options > Memory > Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected = Yes

Default Sync Toy

You could also try Microsoft's SyncToy 2.0. I have found it quite easy to use.

I can't post urls yet, but if you do a search for it, the download page will come up rather quickly.

Wait! I didn't see this before. When I double click on Blackberry1 or Blackberry2 I get a prompt that says PLease inert disk in drive F: or Drive G: so I can't see the contents

I think that I solve the problem it seems that there was something else to do:
"If mass storage mode or MTP is not turned on, in the device options, click Memory. Press the Menu key. Click Enable USB Mass Storage or Enable Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)."
Now it works. Thanks
