Question Need help friends (have javelin, want a storm)

Please Login to Remove!

I have been around BBF for a while and did search I want to know from those who have TMobile and have a Storm (9530), the following:

- IMPORTANT: Heard that .122 for 4.7 is out. Those with a storm, does it fix the crashing issues; or are you still crashing out there?

- IMPORTANT: Typing: You press the screen in; how durable is it? How easy is it to type on using SureType and the new QWERTY keyboard in landscape and portrait modes!

- IMPORTANT: I trust you JSanders (Unlocked Storm on AT&T or T-Mobile has anyone on TMo applied this WITH GOOD LUCK AND NO ISSUES?

- IMPORTANT: I have Desktop Mgr 4.7 for my Javelin. Can I use for my new Storm (if I buy one)?

- NOT SO IMPORTANT: I know that the 9530 doesnt have Wifi, I rarely use it anyways. But I wanted to know if the hardware necessary for Wifi is in there, just firmware does not support it!

DaBlackberryBoy as always appreciates the help!
And JSanders, good post by the way!!!!

It's better, yes. For me, I like it better than all previous.

The SurePress takes getting used to. But it works. Give it two weeks and see. I haven't used SureType since the 7100, and I am getting back used to it.

Yes, it works, verified by many. Complicated, but works.

Yes.

No, not there.

My personal opinion... if you want a Storm with WiFi:

Keep your 8900 for now. Rogers will be launching the 9520 Storm with WiFi hopefully by the summer... It will be a GSM based device, much easier to operate on TMobile, and will have WiFi.

Cool beans. I last question...
The screen, how durable is it? I would not want to be typing a email/text and it breaks on me but want to know if it will hold up under the pressure of maybe 10 to 30 big emails a day, 25-50 text messages, while out in the field. Thanks JSanders!

well its up to you on which one you want. I have have both the 8900 (.206) and the 9530 (.122) and heres what i can tell you from my findings

A. the storm is slower than the 8900, it has a little lag. i figured it was cause the system memory. storm has 128MB, 8900 has 256MB

B. even with .122 you go in and out of edge/EDGE

C. battery life is shorter on the storm than the 8900

the full screen on the storm is sweet. but the 8900 does have the wifi. even though i dont use my wifi as much as others but not having it does suck.

the 8900 is smaller and lighter.

I personally use the 8900 and the storm is my backup

It's held up for me, pretty heavy user. I have read ONE post that someone broke their screen, and it was no due to typing or pressure.

I don't know that Verizon will be coming out with a WiFi version of this Storm. I have not read that. The supposed Storm2 might.

What about wifi...is it a software(firmware) or hardware limitation that the 9530 cannot have Wifi?

Hardware... the 9500/9530 doesn't have WiFi.

Just like the 8300/8310/8330 doesn't, but the 8320 does.

Cool. Wifi is not that much of a biggie for me. I do not surf that much and when I do, it is usually to download stuff! I think I'll spring for that 9530, cause if I ever want to switch to a CDMA carrier, I can. Thanks!
