I was on the phone with Tier 2 Tech Support over an issue with an 8703e, and I asked when the new software was coming out.

He said it was due out before the end of April. I told him that was what they said in March, February, etc. He said that this time they "promise" it will be released.

I didn't ask which version it would be .113 or .122.

Let's hope they keep their promise.

LOL! I've heard the same thing from EVERY VZN employee that I've spoken with and that would include no less than a dozen of them... "it's due out any day..." Even after I returned the Storm, they are still singing the same song (like I care. LOL!)

By now I really could give a toss if Verizon release one or not. As far as I can tell with a Verizon release they just change the vendor.xml info anyway. If they can't be bothered to support and release an os upgrade as timely as other carriers then don't they think VZW users will download it from other sources anyway? I have a feeling whatever version they release will be versions behind any current version, beta or not.

It's more of a rant, but I feel just a bit neglected and that VZW takes existing users for granted. They're too focused on getting new Storm and not focused enough on sorting out the existing firmware issues. I mean, other carriers have released several updates but VZW have done 1, and haven't done one yet in the 5 months I've had a Storm? That's a big fat FAIL in my book. If I didn't have alternative ways to upgrade the firmware I would have jettisoned this one, NOT because I'm dis-pleased with the Storm, rather I'm dis-pleased with how VZW is handling the firmware upgrade issue. I'll also note (or rant) that I'm a VIP customer w/ VZW and have complained about this and did get the "in a month" blowoff as well.
