Default voice memo is .amr file - How do you open it on a computer ?

Please Login to Remove!

I recorded a voice note on the storm, saved it, and emailed it. It is an .amr file. It cannot be opened by the recipient on their computer. Is there a conversion method or alternate way of saving the file that will enable it to be opened as an attachment in an email to a computer?

Thank you.

I have not tried it, but Quicktime or Real Player should be able to play the .amr files.

Edit: I did a test voice note sent it to myself and it did play with quicktime.

Thumbs up thank you

I did not think of Quicktime and it does indeed work. I wonder why Windows choked on this and did not even offer an option. Even after it worked with Quicktime, it still said that it couldn't open it and didn't know what program could. It had to be manually assigned.

Thank you again.

I can open the AMR file using Windows Media Player. You have to right click on the AMR file and use the Open With... menu. It won't automatically open unless you assign the AMR file type in the control panel.
