i got the storm 9500 from vodafone, when i first unboxed the fone, i noticed it has a film on the front mentioning abt the back & menu buttons, i removed that film completly & it was covering the entire screen, i bought a scratch gaurd for the storm but after reading in this forum i m wondering if there is another screen protector under the protective film i peeled off which was covering the entire screen, so is there another protector under it for the 9500 vodafone storm ?? anyone with a 9500 storm can help me here??

I had the same question.

It turns out that it is not a screen protector, but only a film. Which means, that it can not provide you with the protection a screen protector can (scratches).

I removed it and applied my own screen protector. Of course, there are also others who kept the film until it peeled itself off.

well i dunno if i have it or not on my storm, how do u know if its on the screen??? cause my screen looks naked..

Yes there is a factory sealed protector on the screen. It is very difficult to see it. You can take it out as in a few weeks its surface will be full of scratch. Storm screen is made by very resistant glass which is nearly impossible to scratch. I dont use any protector and nothing happens. The screen is still as brand new screen.

the factory protector also protects the touch components. you don't want to take that one off. if you look at the LCD from an angle, you will see a grid system on the storm LCD for touch.

So is that the final vote? The factory protector has nothing to do with the screen functions? I definitely see a film on top of the primary touchscreen. Mine had bubbles in it when I bought it new. Is it easy to remove? Just peel it off?

The factory film has nothing to do with the touch screen functions. My suggestion is that you buy a single use screen protector off ebay for £1. I did, and all it needs is a wipe with the cloth in the 9500's box every few weeks and it's fine!
