I downloaded Poynt app. I keep getting an error message that reads "Your current Default Services do not provide access to map data." I am using a unlocked BB Storm with T-Mobile as my provider.

Do you have a Blackberry data plan through TMobile?
Poynt uses the internal GPS and if TMobile doesnt allow it to access the GPS, it wont work. Verizion has allowed this, but Alltel did not.

I assume you downloaded OTA and therefore have a data plan?

Does the app have network configuration settings in options and if so have you experimented?

Have you set the TCP in options on the blackberry. For USA tmobile it is wap.voicestream.com. Leave user and pass blank.

I did call t-mobile and they did say I have an unlimited data plan , as for OTA I have no idea what that is, I tried looking for it but .. Sorry I am new to the forum and don't know much of the 'Lingo" . As for the TCP option , I did find that and will try what you "aiharkness" gave me.
so, I need to go into TCP/Id and under the APN put the wap.voicestream.com
I leave the APN settings checked and the APN authentication enabled "not checked"

OTA = over the air.

I don't know about the APN authentication checkbox. I'm guessing you are seeing things differently on your OS than I. But to be sure, are you going options > advanced > TCP? I just have the apn, user and password fileds, but you are probably different.

Enter wap.voicestream.com for the apn and leave username and password fields blank. Try the authentication one way, and then try the other if that doesn't work.

okay i did it and no luck still getting the same message when trying to access a map location search... any other ideas????

I don't have any other ideas. I'm not familiar with the app or the newer blackberries. Hope someone else can advise.

What about other mapping apps (google, live search, blackberry maps ...)? Do they work?

ALRIGHT ... I got it ...changed from blackberry maps and downloaded google maps. thanks alot !!
Should I keep that wap.voicestream.com .... does that still help me??

Keep the apn setting. You are bound to use an app that uses the apn sometime. I thought google maps needed it, but don't remember.

Just remember it. If you reinstall the OS or do an upgrade you'll probably have to enter it again.
