Default OS question

Please Login to Remove!

I just bought a storm. I am having some problems with it locking up and not playing videos, even when I record them on my phone. I keep seeing all this discussion on updating to a newer OS. How do I tell what OS I am running? and how do I update it?

At the top of the Storm threads, there are instructions on how to do all of this.

Welcome to the forums.

Options > About will tell you what OS you're currently running.

Here are the steps for loading the most recent official release for the 9530:

Options > About.

The 3rd line down should show v4.7.0.xxx (Platform x.x.x.xx)

OS compatabilty is detemined by the device model, not the carrier version. As log as it is for a 9500, you will be OK.

This is exactly why getting your profile is correct is important. The OP has 9500 is his profile but has Verizon as his carrier. That would indicate that the OP actually has the 9530, or they have their carrier incorrect.

Yeah, I just changed it. I didn't realize I had a 9530 until yesterday. Like my screen name says, I am not very smart. I have gone from the free basic flip phone my entire life to the storm and I am just trying to figure everything out. Thanks for all your help, this forum is awesome, I have learned a ton already.

There's definitely a learning curve when it comes to BlackBerry devices. You've found the right place to get info/help.
