Default Latest OS 9500 4.7.0.195/4.7.0.141 - 05-06-2009, 06:26 PM

Software For BlackBerry® Storm(TM) smartphone

(This is for the 9500 only not the 9530.)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.195 (Multilangauge)

Package Version: 4.7.0.195
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.7.0.141
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.174
* File name: 9500_omadrmEuropean_PBr4.7.0_rel195_PL4.0.0.174_A4 .7.0.141_Vodafone_UK.exe
* File size: 114.63MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download HERE
Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9500:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Hello, not sure if this question has been asked before but do these instructions work if you are using a Apple MAC? If not, could someone please post instructions on installing with a MAC system?

Thanks in advance!

Since it is a Windows executable, the only viable solution is windows-on-a-mac, such as a Bootcamp or a Parallels Desktop installation.

Upgraded to 4.7.0.195/4.7.0.141. No problems during the setup. Storm seems faster now. I didn't know that you have a Full Keyboard in Portrait Mode. I wouldn't recommend it though as they keys are too small.

No, v4.7.0.78 (Platform 4.0.0.98) is not the latest. v4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.7.0.195) is the latest. Your Storm will not upgrade by itself. If you want to update, please check this forum for v4.7.0.141 bugs, and how to update.

Sorry dude, but I just updated from .78 to .141 so it's a new feature for me, and I didn't read too much about .122.

I can't enjoy it as the keys are too small not even my gf can text with those keys. Also, there is no point in using that as typing with 2 hands is easier and faster.

Does this version have the tmobile "edge" problem where you get no data service? I have a thread here trying to figure it out on .122 but if switching to this one will be a better shot then Ill do it.

What happened to the LED with the 132 update? It's not on anymore. Another problem with this update? Can anyone tell me how to roll back to .75?

Default Quicklaunch - 05-12-2009, 07:01 PM

Anybody else having issues with quicklaunch with this new release? When i try to invoke quicklaunch it appears on screen but just flickers on and off.

Also i still have the issue of the music player muting when coming to the end of a song and starting the next.

As a side note i have found this release to be great, have been using it for about a week. Everything else seems to be working fine, even the You Tube app.

AppWorld is currently only accessible from the USA, Canada and the UK. The UAE is none of the above.

Likewise, AppWorld in those countries require THE BlackBerry Data Plan, not a routine global data plan.

Preview, as in the "Try It" button in your Profiles ringtone setup? That works correctly for me in .141

I've said in other threads, many have encountered this issue, but re-installing the OS will solve it. It takes no more than 5 minutes to do that.

When I upgraded to .141, I didn't lose my service books, but I'm on another carrier and I don't know if it works the same for all.

Even then you're not sure it'll work properly because of USB driver emulation.

Hm.. I ****ed up the installation..

I downloaded the file, installed it. But i went into the Research in Motion-folder under program files, and not under common files.. So i thought i didnt install the update. So i installed it several times after that, before it hit me that i was supposed to go into the common files folder.

Well.. But now my "About" on my blackberry says: "v4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.0.0.174)"

Is that this update ? Or have i screwed something up?

I dunno if you screwed something, but my BB says "v4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.0.0.174)" so might have got it right.

When I go through the update process as in the first post, and launch the software wizard, I get asked which programme I want installed - from a list which doesn't include the software update. I searched, using the add button, but still can't find anything...not that I really know what file I'm looking for.

Maybe you are installing the OS, and those are applications which come with the OS. I don't exactly remember the exact steps of the process. BTW, did you delete the vendor.xml file?

Firstly I tried to download the software from Blackberry using the link on the first post in this thread. I got part way then had an error message about a missing file. Tried the download several times but got same error. I then went to the v4.7.0.141 Platform 4.0.0.174 which I had previously downloaded to my PC and installed to the phone. I wanted to reinstall it because of some errors such as no sound preview of ringtones/alerts. Yes, I did delete the vendor.xml file.

You are on .141 now, and you want to reload the OS, right? If I recall well, you don't have to choose between any OS'. I think that the setup shows which applications you want to install. Just click next...

When I run Loader.exe I get the setup wizard. Running the wizard gives me a viewing pane which lists 12 applications currently on my Storm e.g. Google Sync and Facebook. A tickbox at each gives me the choice of removing or retaining the application. No applications relate to the upgrade installation. Cliking next brings up a new screen which says 'no actions are required'.
