Default Is Blackberry Maps + GPS free?

Please Login to Remove!

I know that VZ Navigator costs monthly fee.
But is buit-in GPS on the Storm free to use? So if I use Blackberry Maps and the built-in GPS, there is no extra fee from Verizon?

Thanks.

GPS is free to use, paid for by US tax dollars. However, to use the map applications, you must have a BB data plan and that costs at least $30 a month on ATT.

Check out the sticky at the top of the GPS & Mapping section for reviews of the various map applications.

You are correct: VZN, it tightwad fashion, charges $10/month or $3/24 hours to use VZ Navigator, an app I love and enable every time I go on vacation. The other GPS enabled apps on the Storm are "free" for the price of the plan you have with VZN.

In Free Enterprise fashion, most all carriers have their own branded GPS app which they charge for, like the ATT Nav app, as well.

You can choose not to pay for it, however. There are many good free GPS mapping applications.

But the best does cost money.

Sprint includes it in the Everything plan. and the cost of that plan is less than VZN w/o their VZ navigator charge of $10/mo.

Either way, you're paying for it. If you don't pay the plan cost, you don't get it.

the Sprint plan is cheaper than VZN, so you get a better deal (cost wise) with Sprint.

And only if Sprint provides the coverage when and where you need it.
