Default i 'accidentally' broke my standby button....

Please Login to Remove!

i bought a replacement earpiece cover from CNN a while ago with the intent of replacing the original one because i scratched it....

i used the special plastic pry tools to carefully unclip the cover from the body. then there was the glue. i noticed a thin black ribbon that is connected to both the standby and mute buttons, but didn't notice that it was an electrical bridge that connects the 2 buttons, so i cut it at each end. the reason i did this was because it was attached to the glue and coming off with the cover i was removing.

so i start up the fone after replacing the cover, and the standby button doesn't work anymore. but strangely enough, the mute button still works when on a call.
the screen locks during power up unless i start pressing esc or any of the other 3 keys when it starts verifying security software (in this case, the screen does not lock)....i found the workaround since i can't use the mute key is to hold down the power key, then the screen will unlock and i can enter my lock code.

i realized what i did, so i peeled off the remainder of the ribbon from the old cover, i tried to reconnect the ends to where i separated them, but it still won't make the electrical connection properly, so i lost my standby function.

2 questions:
what's the most reliable app that works well to lock/unlock my screen ?
is there a way to buy the body of the phone with these buttons pre-assembled ? or at least the button assembly ? don't see it on CNN's web site....

Wirelessly posted (My Bold)

Congrats first of all. =P. Don't worry, ove broken my fair shard of bb's. Don't feel bad

Anyway...

1. There is an icon on the phone which locks the keyboard. U should find it on ur home screen. If not, hit menu and show all. Then look for it.

2. Check out horizon wireless. They may or may not have one like that, but it wouldn't hurt to check. Also, they sponsor the forums here, so ur business with them helps keep the forum alive and smooth. =)

funny you mention the lock icon, because i wasn't thinking about it at the time....
so i bought StormLock. after buying the app, i saw the lock icon on the main screen, so i felt like a jack-a@@....he he

it was 3 bucks, so i didn't lose too much.....regardless, i messed with the app, i wanted to enter a delay time of more than 99 seconds for locking the screen when on a call, and it didn't allow that.....what if i wanted a delay of 5 mins ?

regardless, since i can unlock the screen by holding how the power button, i'm content enough with that.....

i don't want to go buy a new storm now, since a series of new models are coming out....
