Question wireless upgrade message and icon??

Please Login to Remove!

I have Verizon...I turned on my phone this am to have a new icon and it wants me to do some update??

I had a Pearl for close to a year and never had this. I asked a few at my office that are on BB phones, not the same as mine, but not one person got this today? I have asked a few people and no one is sure. I am afraid to open this up since I am not certain that its legit. haha..

Anyone can confirm this for me or what this is please.

Thank you for your help!

Are you on a BES? Perhaps your BES admin requested a wireless OS update for your Storm.

What OS version is on your Storm now? If it's .65 or .75 then the wireless update will bring you up to .148

It's legit.

You did do them manually on the Pearl.
Wireless Upgrade was introduced by Verizon after the Storm was released.

^I see that makes sense.

Update:
okay so I finally started this process...I have not added anything and all my personal stuff is on the SD card. I had it from the Pearl and transferred it over to this phone as it has more storage space then what came with the storm...

Its telling me there is not enough space to download it and it wants to clear personal data space? does this mean its going to kill stuff on my SD card? I havent hit okay yet as I cant loose anything on it.

Seems like the phone should be able to handle this download since I have not added anything to the phone.

You need 20mb of free space in device memory. The process won't touch or use your SD card at all.

My free device memory is 878.5Mb out of a total 879.2Mb. Yet it still gives me the 'delete old data' message. Can I trust these numbers, or is the OTA loader giving me a false error? I even pulled my SD card, in case that was interfering with things.

That's not device memory. You're looking at application memory.
Device memory is a lot smaller.

Options > Status > File Free = ?

Odd. The numbers I posted are clearly within the 'Device Memory' space (lines actually) of the Options>Memory page. 'Application Memory' free space is 37.4Mb

Options>Status>File Free is 38.24Mb, so seems close to what Application memory is telling me.

You're right, I had it backwards...
What you need to look at is Application memory, and it does look like you have enough.
Not sure what's going on with your OTA upgrade.
