Default Problem with ff on long mp3 files

Please Login to Remove!

I've noticed that some long (1hr. or longer) mp3 files don't allow me to advance or rewind without starting over. For example I have an audio book that is 7+ hrs. Once I start the book, I can advance about 30 min into the book, but any farther starts the book over at the beginning. I've also noticed this behavior on a long podcast. These same mp3 files work fine on my computer and an iPod. Is this a known bug?

Default Pod Trapper

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I find the built in Media Player extremely inadequate for audio books and long files, just for the reasons you've stated.

I am using Pod Trapper for Audio Books, Podcasts, etc. because it allows accurate advance and rewind of large files and it will retain your place in a file through shutdowns, reboots, etc.

It costs about $10 (as I recall), but for me it is well worth it.

From what I can tell my Blackberry storm doesn't like VBR MP3 files. I reconverted some files to a constant bit rate and now they work fine. Hopefully, this will be address in a future OS upgrade.

I tired to use PodTrapper on my 8300 and it shows the same incorrect length of the audio file as shown on my BB player. Even the blogs in the PodTrapper says they are having problems with the length issue since it uses the BB internal player so runs into the same problems. Still looking for a solution to long audio files. I have a 7 hour book that shows up at less than 2 hours.
