| STORM 9530 Unlocked on T-MOBILE Please Login to Remove! Hey guys
I've got a 9530 that I'm trying to unlock and use for T-Mobile
JSANDERS has been very helpful with his posts and advice, but for some reason, I just cant keep an "EDGE" signal on this thing...
Is there anyone out there that is using a 9530 on the T-Mobile network? | | Offline

| Yes, I run a Verizon 9530 on T-Mobile with BES. I have loaded the newest OS from Verizon as well and I still drop EDGE sometimes. The best way in my experience is to change the APN to ecp.tmobile.com and change your browser settings to use Internet browser vs Blackberry browser as default.
However, you can't change the default WAP browser as that stays on TMOBILE. This should help you keep a more steady EDGE while browsing the web, there will still be issues with certain apps that try to pick up network configurations and will fail and cause your EDGE to go to edge or GSM. To get the EDGE connection back, just turn off your network connection and turn it back on or do a cold reboot.

I'm not BES... I'm just BIS.
Do you think that is my issue? | | Offline

| i used 9530 on tmobile breifly. go to mobile network option, select 2g/3g only, i turned off my apn setting. once you complete that, go back to mobile network options, turn date off, ensure its lower case edge, go back turn data service back on. a battery pull or register now if it doesnt kick in on its own. it will stay on EDGE, i did not have any problem with dropping DATA connection at all. | | Offline

| BIS or BES should not matter..the difference is that on BES, I get my service books DL'd automatically while people on BIS may have to load the service books on their own. You can leave the APN off as well but I found some apps will not work without the APN settings enabled.
Note: Do you know when your EDGE seems to drop? ex: web browsing, when using a certain app?

I seem to have narrowed it down to BROWSING ONLY. I can log into Facebook, and YouMail and still keep the EDGE.
I've sent a few Voicemails, and I've been BB Messaging. As soon as I try to do anything in a browser, I shrink to "edge". | | Offline

| I have that problem too, what you need to do is use the Internet browser icon and not T-Zones..also change in your Options>Advance Options>Browser to what I stated before..make them all default to Internet Browser and leave WAP as T-Zones. You should be able to browse the WEB with EDGE with minimal issues.

| Hey Guys. The problem is all in your radio file...at least for me it was. I am using the 9530 with T-mobile and everytime I upgraded past .90, I get EDGE to edge issues. So no matter what OS I currently use, I always swap out the radio file with the .90 BEFORE running loader.exe. So give it a try. With this method, I get continued EDGE no matter what application I try to run.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Scott

| I was going good there for a long time...
I had "EDGE" and was browsing for a little while. Then, I lost it. So I just reset my connection? | | Offline

| You can try CScotty's suggestion and see if it works, I have done that before and for me I still get the dropped EDGE every once in a while.
Maybe you will have better luck, you can google swap a radio and follow the instructions, this is the easiest way to change your radio file and keep the latest OS..it will wipe your unit, so you will have to backup.

| I've not a had a problem with keeping EDGE with the radio on .148, have not needed to do the radio swap.
Changing the TCP settings as mentioned above would be a good idea... gonna go add that to the FAQ right now. | | Offline

| Got You Hey Telly_Wise,
I followed these instructions and they worked great immediately. I recommend deleting and not using the APN leave it all blank and unchecked. that screws with the EDGE Connection. Hope it works for you. 9530 Unlocked edge to EDGE? HELP Quote:
