Default Sending International Texts

Been trying to send an international text since buying the phone on Monday...the thing is i can not send any texts on my own..but i can reply to an international text. i have international dialing activated and an international dialing plan. Called tech support and the they submitted a troubleshooting ticket and are going to contact the wireless carrier of the person i have been trying to send my texts to (which is Vodaphone) is there anything i can to till i hear back (told me it should be 3-5 business days)

My wife has the same problem. It turns out Vz doesn't support texting to every country; in her case it's Indonesia allthough it's gotten better recently. They concluded an agreement with some local providers but it looks like it's limited to cdma for now (yes, they exist elsewhere, just not many). I would think Vodaphone would be on the approved list though.

I send international texts to my friend in the UK with no problems (who is on Vodafone) I am using 'Telus' from Canada.

This depends on the receiving-end operator agreement with Verizon. Some will accept txt messages from Verizon, some will not. The problem is that you don't know if the message is succesfully delivered or not - you won't get any notification if it is not delivered...
