Default How do I remove Verizon OS and put Bell Mobility OS on Storm?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been reading almost every thread for the last 2 days, yet I still can't get the Verizon software off my BB Storm.

I have used the JL... program to wipe the device and have deleted the vendor.xml file after downloading the Bell software, yet I am still unable to get the Verizon software off the device to get the Bell software working.

While I can get the phone to make and accept calls including sending SMS messages, email is not working and I cant' figure out how to configure some of the options when using the ##000000 to make changes.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem in removing the Verizone stuff? The device is unlocked.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

What are you trying to accomplish? If you delete the vendor.xml file you should be able to load the Bell OS without issue. However, the Verizon splash screen when the device powers on will still show. You cannot remove that. It is not in the OS.

What is your overall goal here?

Thanks for the information.

My goal is to use the Storm on the Bell Mobility network. While I can get the phone number to work, when I check the Status, it tells me that it is Roaming, which I believe means that it is still connected to the Verizon network. I can't seem to find the right settings to put in the fields after I do the ##000000.

I guess I thought that because I kept seeing the Verizon screen, I was under the assumption that maybe it was still connected to Verizon. I went to the actual store, but the person was so confused, I left.

I will call Bell and see if they can give me the correct settings.

One other problem I noted, is that the Email settings seem to point to a BES instead of giving me the option to create a local email account.

Will Bell activate a phone on their network that isn't theirs? I know Verizon will only all Verizon branded devices on their network.

You will have to call Bell and see if they can activate your Storm's ESN number. Otherwise you may be SOL.

As far as the personal email is concerned, you will need a BlackBerry data plan from Bell to set that up.

Bell activated the phone with no problems, however it still thinks it is on the Verizon network and now some of the options in ##000000 don't allow me to change them?

Not sure what happened, but I think I will go back to my old phone for now as I can't seem to get anywhere with this phone.

Somehow it is stuck with Verizon and it just won't allow me too many options at this point.
