Have you tried a battery pull? Is it text from multiple people or just one?

its what it sounds.
you take the back off, PULL the BATTERY out. wait for 30 seconds, and put it back in.
let it reboot.

I had that problems when I replaced my old 8310 with Storm.
Go to >options>SMS Text and see >Service Center<.
If you don`t have number of your provider then that is problem like my.
You will not be able to put number so you must go to your network provider and they will repace your SIM with new.
I other mobile phones my old SIM worked ok but in Storm not.

I know this is an older thread but it could be the firewall is blocking SMS messages.

Go to Options > Security Options > Firewall and see if there is a check next to SMS.
