Ok I tried searching for this a little and didn't get anywhere so I'm asking now. It was rumored that not only would the new storm 2 be wifi but also mifi capable. Does anyone know if this was just a rumor or does it actually have mifi?

Since it is already available, and no one has posted that the Storm 2 has Mifi, I would seriously doubt this.

Never read that rumor. Must have been a quiet rumor.

But no, it is not mifi.

Well engadget had an article about it. I've seen it mentioned a few more times but it looks like it doesn't. But at least a verizon Blackberry has wifi now. Lol

If it has WiFi, then it can connect to the MiFi since the MiFi is also a wireless router. However, I can't see it being such a big deal since they would both also use the EVDO network for data.

Of course... Maybe I should have explained the rumor a little better. The rumor was that the storm 2 itself would emit a wireless signal just as a mifi unit would.

No need to explain a rumor. A rumor site has an incorrect rumor on it. Go figure.

So Verizon, which fought BlackBerrys with Wifi for years, is now going to cannabilize their MiFi sales?

Does that sound right to anyone (except for the guys at Engadget).

Oh I agree. I was hearing this from actual verizon employees too though. That's the only reason I thought it might have a chance of being true. Oh well.

I would be positively STUNNED if you found 1 Verizon Wireless employee who even knew what MiFi was.

Well it wasn't actual employees working in the little stores or kiosk but rather from a field technician and corporate sales person who both work closely with my employer.so I thought the information was somewhat reliable. And its not like they said it specifically did but that they were hearing it did. That's why I'm calling it.a rumor. That combined with the stuff on the net with the possibility of it got wanting to find out for sure. I called several stores and none could give a straight answer. Some didn't even know there was an actual storm 2. Since you guys on here tend to be on the up and up I figured I'd ask.

What is Engadget anyways? I keep hearing people talk about it. Are they not reliable with information?

I'd say someone got some launch rumors mixed up. I actually heard that the 3rd Android phone due to launch (after the Moto and HTC models) was going to have MiFi capabilities on it, but again, that was a rumor. I haven't heard anything about it since.
