Adding e-mail addresses to contacts -
11-04-2009, 10:09 PM
I'm a newbie to BB;s so pardon my ignorance. I have a Storm 2, and am looking for an easy way to add e-mail addresses to the contact list that came from my old cellphone................any help at all. I'm assumming there is a way to use my laptop to do this instead of typing each one into the BB....that will take all day.

If you are syncing the phone with Outlook (I do), it is really easy to add them into Outlook and then sync them to the device.
I have hundreds of contacts, and update and add new ones in Outlook.

If you have Outlook installed already, download and install the Blackberry Desktop software.
Once its installed, configure the sync options to use Outlook.
Works really well. And, if you add pictures to your Outlook contacts, it syncs them to the Blackberry as well. Then, when that person calls, their picture shows on the caller ID.
And, since its this Saturday, GO NU ----> Beat OU!!! (I can dream!!)

Do you mean Outlook installed on the BB? Is this an app that I need to download? I do not see a synch to Outlook option on the BB Desktop.
I WILL be watching the Huskers play this Saturday. I still fly my Husker flag every game day. It is getting a tad hard to be a Husker fan when all the BSU fans think they could whip us. Maybe one day we will get the chance.

I will try and pick this up for you...Outlook is an e-mail client that will run on your PC. You can enter all the contact information through the PC in Outlook and then using the BB Desktop Manager program, you synch the handheld with Outlook. You should have received a disc with the handheld with the DM program or you can download it at Blackberry.com

I have Outlook on my desktop. I have downloaded the BB Desktop. On the Main Menu of BB Desktop I go to the Synchronize title and I do not see an option to Synch to Outlook

I must admit, I am a BES user and this is different for you as a BIS user. I found this in the help section of DM. It should walk you through the process. Organizer application will be Outlook.
Good luck
Connect your BlackBerry® device to your computer.
Open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
Click Synchronize.
In the left pane, click Configure > Synchronization.
Click Synchronization.
Select the check box beside an organizer application.
Click Setup.
In the Available desktop applications list, click the organizer application on your computer.
Click Next.
Select the synchronization options.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
To set up organizer data synchronization for another organizer application, repeat steps 5 to 12.

I am. I appreciate your comments. I am also glad it worked for you. That is what this forum is all about.
