I have this issue that just popped up. I click my sms icon and it turns blue and then it fades away and doesnt, if it does open i can not open current messages. I have to click on new sms type the persons name of the message that im already having and then click ok and it will then open the threaded message view...... Any one else having this issue or can offer assistance?

It seems to have been a memory issue. I have made more free memory and the issue seemed to go away. Thank you for all the responses...oh wait im the only one who responded...thanks for nothing then

Just read it. You may want to run through your apps listing and start deleting programs you don't use.

I deleted EVERYTHING I don't use and it makes a difference. The biggest culprit of ghost in the machine shenanigans is VZ Navigator. Get rid of that unless you absolutely need it. That friggin app always turned itself on and seemingly had a mind of its own. When I first deleted it, I had never opened it, I was warned it was running. DELETE!!

I'm running 5.0.0.328 and just noticed I am unable to open some text messages... I click the message and there's no response at all.

Edit: Went into Options->SMS Text and changed the Conversation Style to "Stripes" which seems to have fixed the problem.

I was still having the same issue as reported earlier. I changed to stripes as you suggested and ill report back if it solves it for me as well

I had that issue happen one time where the SMS would not open, I reset my phone and it worked fine again. Dunno what causes that yet, might be that Chat view for SMS. But will keep looking into it.

I have the 9550 and just had a similar problem.. Went on an SMS tear with one of my kids and the thread was somewhere in the 30 - 40 messages .. and couldnt open the thread anymore to reply.. New messages came into the thread but i was unable to open the thread anymore. I checked my mem usage and all was well.. no other issues with the device .. was able to open other emails and threads but that one.. I deleted the thread and all was well again.. Have not had a thread go that high yet .. but i will be testing it again to see if the problem reappears...
