Welcome to the forums.
Have you tried a battery pull?
Why can't you upgrade your OS?

Have you removed the vendor.xml file?

There is but make sure you have a backup prior to doing it.
Follow these steps to the letter. Don't use DM, use Loader.exe.

What do you mean Application Loader needs updated? That's not on the device, that's in Desktop Manager.
Have you even tried the steps I've posted above?

You've downloaded the OS to your PC, correct?
You've double clicked on the exe to install it to your PC, correct?

Something's missing.
You have the 9530 correct? Not the 9500?
Who is your carrier?

I got the same message when I did my upgrade. I don't know if it will help, since I am a Verizon user, and used the upgrade link directly from RIM, but I got the same message in the final stages of my upgrade. The technician that helped me had me do a security wipe. BE SURE TO DO A BACK-UP BECAUSE THE WIPE TAKES CONTACTS, LOGS, APPS, ETC...OUT OF THE PHONE.
Here are the steps for the wipe:
Go to Options>Security Options>Security Wipe. "E-mails, Contacts, etc." is selected by default, but you should check the box for "User Installed Apps" as well. After those two are checked, click on Wipe.
After that, you will have to reload using the DM.
After you reload using DM, you will have to resend your service books and what not since you have essentially taken everything out of the phone.
Hope it helps.
