Default 5.0.0.230 storm 9500 - 11-07-2009, 09:11 PM

hey guys upgraded my storm to the .230 and works great so far i have not seen any issues. one thing i did notice which was an improvement was the the 2nd row of icons don't disappear anymore which happened often in in .216

pros:
snapping pics is a little faster.
flick scrooling is good .
closing and opening apps is fast.
over all typing is much better and faster.
media pics load really fast . i have over 200 pics on media card and
facebook working
pandora working

will update once i play with it more in the next few hrs

Ok here are the steps for a clean install but before you do anything do a back up first so all your data can be transfered back into your storm.

1. download the install file (the version you want to install)

2. Install the software on the computer after the instillation is done DO NOT launch desktop manager

3. Go to your hard drive which in most cases it is drive C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader once you are there delete the vendor file.

4. click on the loader icon and the rest is easy just select what you want installed and then click ok.

i hope this works for you.

True.

Add this step:

After your backup is made from Desktop Manager, unplug the device from the USB and go to Options > Security > General Settings > Menu > Wipe Handheld and follow the prompts to wipe the device.

(after the OS is isntalled and you up and running, the connect to DM > Backup/Restore > Advanced and do a selective restore of all items/databases you want.)

this issue still persists. i actually only became aware of it in .230. and downgraded to .216, thinking it was a bug in .230. it is rather annoying as the only solution is a battery pull.

Hey guys, I'm new to this site and my 9500. Can somebody confirm the exact steps for a clean install? My coworker has the same phone and she has the 5.0 upgrade and she says she's much happier with the new OS.
