hey all.
i'm having a terrible time with my storm. i installed the new 5.0 OS a while back and it caused my phone to freeze up. so, i down graded to 4.0 something and it was fine.

this morn i tried to install 5.0 again, and it's better but the phone will still lock up. very frustrating.

can i get some help finding the previous OS? i believe it is 4.7something.

i'm used to my BB desktop software asking me if i want to upgrade, but it is not prompting me for that now.

what is the most developed 4.7 version? is .148 as good as 4.7 got?
is there a place on Verizon's site that has all the versions of the OS's listed?

i downloaded and downgraded to 4.7... and my phone works much smoother. 5.0 is faster, yes, but causes my phone to lock up. i am anticipating later versions of 5.0 to be improved and to work better on my device. is that a reasonable assumption? are there some things i should look for on my phone that would make 5.0 run poor? thanks for any advice.

you may want to make a list of your 3rd party apps and check to see if they conflict with the 5.0 OS builds. My favorite theme didn't play well with 5.0 so I deleted it. Older builds of SliderBerry also caused lockups but this has been remedied with newer builds. But I don't see how I could ever return to the 4.7 realm.

4.7.0.148 was probably the last best running OS build in the 4.7 realm.

However, I am willing to bet one of your apps, and not 5.0, is the cause of your lockups.

havent been on the forum in a while. phones been working fine. wanted to reply to the reply above and mention that i have no third party apps running. too scared to touch them. one of those if it ain't broke deals i guess. on the other hand i'm sure i'm not using the device to it's full potential. i'm thinking i'll try 5.0 again in a while. seems like new versions are released periodically.

one thing you really dont have to worry about to much is that the Blackberry OS wont crash like a windows mobile os. if you know how to downgrade your OS then you can get yourself out of any issue pretty much so dont be scared to try out some apps . just make sure you back up some of your info first and then add the software.

5.0.0.328 should run fine in your Storm. If it doesn't then you should see Verizon for a warranty exchange. It's the best running OS I have had in my Storm and I have been there since the Storm release and OS 4.7.0.67
