I have seen programs that allow you to use the video LED light as a flashlight. Nice idea but I have a question... Is it bad to use it this way? Will it wear out?

(I know it draws on the battery more)

Well, sure, the LED does have a limited life span. I'm not sure exactly which high-flux LED they use as the flash/video light, but if it's anything at all decent, it will have a usable lifespan of around 10 years of constant use. I wouldn't worry about it.

RIM already designed it to be used as a light for video use, so overheating won't be an issue.
