Default Small opening under convenience key

I think I've read everything that I can find, in order to see if I can locate an answer to this question with no luck. What the heck is the small opening under the right side convenience key?

It's a loop for a wrist lanyard.

Such as... http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page....es&skuno=81182

I opened the battery door and saw that right next to the opening there is an odd shaped receptacle of sorts that looks like it would hold the thin end a strap. Ixxx8217;m just a little bit surprised that it would not have been mentioned in the manual. Oh well. Thanks.

That's strange it being at the bottom of the cell not the top...

Makes more sense at the bottom, you hold the device in your hand in such a way.

How many people actually use a strap? My guess is that it's not that many since they did not include it in the manual.

It does make sence having it at the bottom. My old cell it was at the top which I used to take it out of the holster.
