Default Storm 9530 and memory

Please Login to Remove!

Hello experts,

I am new to the Storm having had a Curve. I am curious how Blacberries use memory.

For example my Storm reports:

879.2 MB Total Space
841.6 MB Free Space

21.7 MB Application Memory

I have a 15 GB Memory card, with mass storage mode enabled.

How come I am unable to get more application Memory? Is the Application Memory where Third Party Apps are stored?

Is there any way to use the memoty card for apps?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

xtimedt69 - You are correct that third party apps are installed in the application memory. The amount of application memory is static in the handheld (128 MB for the 9530). As of this moment, third party apps cannot be installed on the memory card.

Any time. With the latest OS (5.0.0.328), I hovered around 25-28 MB of free memory and never had a problem. Memory has always been an issue with BB's in general. It is only with the newer handsets that RIM has started to add more memory. For instance, the 9530 is 1 GB total with 128 MB App memory. The 9550 is 2 GB total with 256 MB app memory. I just don't have to be as careful with the number of apps I have installed.

Good luck
