Default Need Help w/ removing Voice Mail from Speed Dial

Please Login to Remove!

I just stepped up from a Curve to the 9550. Very pleasantly surprised, But, I can't remove, or even move the Voice Mail from Speed Dial 1. I use Google Voice and I don't need to dial in for vmail. I'm used to having my speed dials on certain #'s (especially #1) and I can't believe there are only 9 speed dials?
I have racked my brain on this. I tried replacing the speed dial, moving it, deleting the voicemail # and also the password. Nothing, won't budge.

Cannot delete/replace speeddial 1. The Storm does indeed have only 9 speed dials (one of the things I didn't like). Other BBs have more (not sure how many but basically each key on the key pad) so that was a real down side for me.

Nothing said about TMO -- he's on Verizon. He just doesn't want the voice mail speed dial on his phone because he uses Google Voice.

Yes, that is a bummer. If that's the only issue I can find so far, I can live with it. I can not get over how impressed I am with this phone though. I was a bit skeptical only cause I didn't like the direction BB went with the new Curve & was afraid that was indicative of the the direction of everything. Like I said I was pleasantly surprised.
Thanks TXLady. -BTW, Nice multi-tasking ;P

You're welcome. If you are referring to the Droid/BB combo, the verdict is still out. I tried the Storm 2 for 3 weeks before trading it in for a Droid. Not sure if that was a good move or not. Droid is amazing and has many great features but I really like my BBs, just didn't like the storm. Will probably buy a Tour 2 (at full price) when it comes out.

(And FWIW, the number of speed dials was one of the things I didn't like about the Storm 2.)

I was referring to your reply to me, as well as handling the other response in what I think was pretty diplomatic. Ironically I just read your post 5 minutes prior to this response, regarding the BB/Droid. Wow, some people can get... lets say pretty passionate about these issues. Almost like you insulted them, LOL.

Funny thing is, after you had confirmed the inability to move the vmail speed dial, I realized there is a voice mail icon on the #1. -lol But I also realized that the correct letters are on all the #'s which makes life a lot easier when you need to dial an acronym.
Again, thanks for your input.

Passionate? I was basically called a troglodyte for not liking the Storm on screen keypad and expressing a preference for a key board. (Which was one of the main reasons I went with the Droid.) And reading the Droid forums, some of the posters there are as obnoxious as the iPhone supporters. (And the Storm lovers are almost, but not quite, as bad IMHO.) Seems like the more tricks and hype a phone has, the more obnoxious (juvenile) some of the users become about defending it. Doesn't matter if someone else needs/wants/likes what it has to offer, they take it as a personal affront if anyone says anything that is not postive about it. (Not just negative, even neutral comments get them up in arms.)

But you know what I think. They're phones. Different people like different things. Doesn't make the users inferior or superior because of their choice of phones.

But, I really do love my blackberries. They do what I need them to do very well and efficiently. (Okay, let's ignore the recent outages.) I'm fairly happy with the Droid but it's not a blackberry. Funny that I could never get more than luke warm to the Storm 2 even though it is a BB. Go figure. If someone else does/doesn't like BBs, I won't hold it against them either way.

I do understand your viewpoint, I think it has a lot of merit, even though, in comparison to past BB models, I think BB constructed a premium product this time.
Either way it's a far cry from my old Treo 700w -I still get a headache when I think of that phone.
I was on the fence with the Droid. Between the complaints of the keys being too small, and being a huge Google fan, I love their vision (ie GVoice, Wave, etc.).
I was a lil intimimidated by Verizon's disclaimers on the Droid -re: 3rd party apps. -a disclaimer I still haven't seen for any other Verizon phone. And I also read that Verizon gets a bit carried away on fees and rates for that model. Luckily, you were able to weigh the pros and cons and come up with a viable solution. Cheers!
