Default Storm unlock help pleasse!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone.

I am really sorry if I havent followed the correct protocol before posting or soforth so please point me in the right direction if I have and I'll be happy to follow what needs be.

But back to my point, which is more of a problem!

I have a Storm, But it was purchased through vodafone on a business account contract. I have now upgraded and want to use this phone as more of a personal phone.

But I seem to be missing things like...gps, wifi, personal email wizard and so forth, I have tried downloading msn messager as an application but if says its not supported on my phone.

Is this because it was purchased through a business contract and not personal?

If so is there any way of me overcoming this problem, besides begging vodafone for their help as last time I spoke to them they were extremely rude and unhelpfull!

Is this something that can be fixed by these stalls in town centers that unlock phones? would that cure my problem?

Any help is much appreciated guys and girls

thank you in advance.

Scott

Was this phone on BES? If so, then there may be IT policies that have disabled some of these features. If so, you may need to remove them. Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ (Other FAQs can be found by looking at the menu bar found at the top of each screen and going to Blackberry FAQ.)

The other thing, if you have started using this on a different account, is to ensure that you do have a blackberry (not generic) data plan to take full advantage of BB features.

Unlocking wouldn't have anything to do with this. It only allows you to use the phone on a different carrier than it was originally locked to.

Hi,

thanks for the reply. BES? Is this something to do with a business contract? If so it was purchased on a business contract and seems very much like a business phone without any personal features being able to be used, ie which is a big problem for me is the "personal email wizard" that I would like to use, I only ever get the option of blackberry enterprise server.

I once thought I was quite good with phones but I understand absolutely nothing about this blackberry! I appreciate your help.

PS I have downloaded the software that is posted in the FAQ section but it looks very scary and complicated to do!!!

You have a 9500, it doesn't have wi-fi.
It will have gps, but its only useful if you have a maps program to go with it.

You need to get THE BlackBerry Data Plan add-on to your mobile provider account.

With that, you will get the personal email setup, and access to BlackBerry apps like MSN Messenger, etc.

Do what TxLady recommends, re: an IT Policy.

You must have a BB data plan on your account ad the device properly activated by your carrier to get the personal email set-up (BIS). Do you have a BB data plan? If so, you may need to have the service books resent. Either call the carrier and ask them to do it, or log into your BIS account and do it that way. (Probably best to call the carrier in your situation).
