I've been an 8130 user since Alltel first offered the 8130, and now that my contract with Alltel is pretty much over and I'll now be a full Verizon user...I was thinking about upgrading either to the Storm1 or the Pearl Flip.

Some questions I had about the Storm1...

1. Do they have a list of common problems, and is that list longer than what one would consider common problems with the Pearl?

2. Anyone that was a former Pearl owner/current Storm1 owner...how would you rate your upgrade experience, and would you recommend the upgrade?

Before you reply telling me to get the Storm2...the 2year price is still almost $300, and there's no way I'm paying that much.

When I upgraded from the 8830 to the 9550 I paid $ 70 after I got back the $ 100 rebate check. If you are a long time customer and have paid your bills you might be able to do a lot better than $ 300. I don't consider the Storm 1 to be worth getting due to some mechnical design issues.

This is my opinion and your mileage may vary.

I second TBOLTRAM... I upgraded from Pearl Flip to Storm 2.... the first I got was having some unresponsive screen problems but Im on the 2nd one and I love it... I have tried the Storm 1 but I didnt like it... You should really consider getting the Storm 2..

Known issues for the Pearl Flip, the bluetooth module end up failing after some use and it wont come back... (ramdom usage) I used mine for almost a year when it failed (BT was used almost every day) and I know some people whos BT failed after a few month... The other problem I had is that after few month my side convenience keys became really hard to press (I didnt abuse them)... Other than that its a great phone and real sturdy (it took quite a few falls that I dont think any Storm would survive)

Current issues with my Storm 2: I am now using a GREAT Otterbox Commuter case but since the back door of the phone is covered the "back" (arrow) key becomes unresponsive sometimes (this happens because the metal door is used as ground current).... Besides that amazing phone so far...

Ya, if your full on VZW, now then 279.00 then 100.00 rebate, then new every two if they offer that to you 100.00. Then your down to 79.00.

The S1 is not worth it.
