Default OS: 9500 5.0.0.742/5.0.0.451 (Multilanguage) - 01-25-2010, 02:24 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.742 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.742
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.451
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.198
* File name: 9500_omadrmM_PBr5.0.0_rel742_PL4.2.0.198_A5.0.0.45 1_Vodafone_Australia.exe
* File size: 127.8MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...19656875EE557C

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9500:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...0-0-425-a.html

No, the 9530 and 9500 are Storm 1. And also, the 9530 isn't a 9500 or a 9520.
A 9530 is a 9530.

Default Please forgive the noob question... - 01-31-2010, 07:18 PM

It's not working for me either. Or, to be more specific, I download the file, run it, delete the vendor file, then run the loader. This starts the wizard, which does nothing to my Storm. I used a file from here on the forum for my last upgrade and all went well.

Is there somewhere I can find a download on RIM's site?

Or did I screw up something this time around?

Any feedback's greatly appreciated.

It's not working for me. I download it but when I try to run it it gets to a point then says Installer is already running. I have to stop the installation which of course means nothing is installed

I noticed that files with avi format are no longer supported with OS 5.0.
Does anyone know if this can be solved?

RS Tank, your user info says 9530. But this OS is for 9500. So you can't use it for your Blackberry device. Download the software for 9530 and it will work.

Go to this page

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites

Under the Asia Pacific section, choose a provider and download the appropriate OS.

Thanks... I was actually referring to the latest 5.0.0.451 OS (Australian version), as I really enjoyed the great improvements, but there's no Chinese input in this version.

I checked on other forum and found this solution, while using the Chinese language pack from lyricidal 451 hybrid, then copy cjk.alx file and all of the 'java' folder content into my 5.0.0.451 OS, it work a little here and there...

I can only be able to change the Phone language to Chinese, but not the sms text. The consolation part now is at least I can read Chinese characters when I received lots of Chinese Lunar New Year greetings, but I am not able to choose Chinese to reply them.

Conclusion: I like the Chinese sms input feature in version 4.7, but on the other hand, I enjoyed the great improvements made in 5.0, so... when can we expect the 5.0 version that comes with Chinese input feature?

Blackbenny

as i've posted on another forum, i've made a summarize of chinese simplified and pinyin input only,
plz download from my link : h ttp://rapidshare.com/users/CNAM1C , there's a file named chinese.rar there, unpack and go into 'root' folder, then copy cjk.alx file and all of the 'java' folder content into your base 451 os (should be in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9500M_v5.0.0.451_P4.2.0.198).

just remember cjk.alx should be in the root folder of the os .. not inside the java folder.

hope it helps.

Yes, and thank you so much... I did exactly through these instructions, and was happy that I can read chinese, but I cannot change my language into chinese when I need to write an sms...

oh sorry, i thought you haven't installed it.
just curious, in your storm virtual keyboard, do you see a 'globe' symbol between the left shift button and the space button?
if yes, you can click it to change the language..

but if you dont see any 'globe' symbol between that 2 buttons.. there's problem with the language installation then.

Thanks for your reply... And nope, I don't see that little globe, coz in the previous version 4.7, there's this little globe next to the space key... I don't see it anymore.

I did exactly as what was in the instruction, unpack the chinese.rar, and then save the Java Folder and the CJK.alx file into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9500M_v5.0.0.451_P4.2.0.198.

i had taken a look at the file compilation once again, compared it with my current running os package.. and found there were 4 missing files.. terribly sorry.. it's my fault..

now i've just got the package uploaded again.. please feel free to try it again.
hopefully you can solve your problem with this one.

p.s. the file name has been renamed into "chinese_rev1.rar"

@moderator : please forgive me if my reply here violating forum's rules since i'm posting something that's not really related to the thread subject

Hi Dapid,

This time I have to thank you so much... Everything is fine and working well now... Thank you so much for taking the trouble to get this working for me...

I'm currently so happy with the current 5.0.0.451 with the Chinese Input that you have done for me...

Warmest regards,
Blackbenny
