Question Restore problem: Getting replacement while my PC is in another part of the country!

Please Login to Remove!

OK, my Storm2 was stolen while on vacation. Asurion could not give me a replacement for over two weeks. I just arrived in NC (I live in NYC) and they are finally sending me my new Storm2.

Whoops. My PC is in NYC and that means I cannot restore my Blackberry using the software that was provided me. I had backed up my Blackberry right before I went on vacation.

So, does the software have an option to send all the backup/restore data to a DVD and that said DVD then can be used in a different location? As in, I install the software on a PC where I am now and load the DVD and then get all my contacts, settings, pics, etc on the new device? My wife is home and could pop a DVD blank in to burn the info. If that is possible.

Any help would be appreciated because I am stuck here for at least a month.

I am not sure what you're asking. However, if someone has access to your PC back in NYC, they could email the .ipd file to you, and then you could save it to whatever PC you're currently using and then restore your data. If your pics were stored an an SD card, they wouldn't have been backed up and would be lost with the stolen phone.

I backed up all the pics to a folder on my PC back in NYC.

Now, what you are saying about the .ipd file is helpful. I'll just have to hope my wife can find it. No clue where it might be. But this is obviously a push in the right direction, so thank you.

I'll also have to figure out how to get the two apps I purchased back without paying for them again.

Have her search your hard drive for *.ipd. She should locate it there.

She could also do the same with the pics if you wanted. But if they're not of any importance at the moment, you could always load them back on when you return back to NYC.
