Default Os: 9550 5.0.0.1020/5.0.0.607

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1020

Package Version: 5.0.0.1020
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.607
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.275
* File name: 9550AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel909_PL4.2.0.250_A5.0.0.607.ex e
* File size: 109.96MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: BlackBerry® Software Updates

Note: Use 123-456-7890 for the phone number when downloading from VZW site.

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9550:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Default Question

One question: I have a Storm 9550 unlocked from Verizon, the first time I syncronized with my PC it updated the OS and I now have the version you mentioned above (already checked on my bb) but every time I connect with my PC it says that there's an update and it seems to be the same I've got already, why? I'm thinking of updating once again but I'd like an opinion. Thanks.

You can never get rid of the Verizon logo on startup. It's hard-coded to the device.

so all day and no issues other than re-installing Opera and MeterBerry. Also installed Bolt 2.0 beta to try out.

So over the last 2 days after updating to 1020 my 9550 has re-registered itself probably 3~4 times each day. But has not restarted on its own unless I pulled the battery or did a QuickPull after installing an app. Other than that no real issues. See attached.

This link requires a Verizon number to download the file, and I am using an unlocked 9550 on AT&T. Is there another download location?

TIA.

Default battery drain

ever since i upgraded to .607, the battery drain has been ridiculous. I have no applications running and my full charge only lasts 4-6 hours. Suggestions? reinstall .607?

No need to uninstall the previous version, just go ahead and start upgrading the device
