so im super excited. this isnt my first BB but my first touch phone and im reading the reviews over on Verizon. What are you all doing about the "freezing" situation and the phone rebooting itself issues? does BB have an app that scans barcodes btw? Is the battery life really that bad or do you just need to be careful as with all phones and shut your apps and clean your memory?

Same here regarding battery life. No problems whatsoever. I bought a 2nd battery to have with me when I travel just to be certain. Obviously battery life is a variable dependent upon individual usage of the phone. Just have a backup battery for insurance.
I recently posted a thread about bad battery life.
When I first got the phone I feel the battery was good for a touch screen. I also ran some media tests (music and video).
However today the battery has been better than yesterday cause I think it wasn't calibrated as good as other times (full discharged once in a while).
In average, with some web browsing (opera), some music (a couple of hours, some instant message or SMS, some GPS app for a while and no phone calls today it has lasted 10 hours and I have 15%. Which could translate in a full day of use.
I usually listen to music at work and at the gym so I normally charge it twice a day
As others recommended I will be buying a spare battery.
Freezing and self reboots are very rare though I have experienced them. 3rd party apps are most likely the ones to blame. And os updates made them almost non existant
As for memory cleaning, I do a battery pull a couple of times a week. Nothing to worry about, though my phone takes a full 8-9 minutes to fully start which is annoying
My mantra used to be " I will never move to touch screen!" For reasons I won't go in to I tried the Storm2. After one week of using the Storm2 my mantra changed to "I will never go back to a full QWERTY keyboard!" Seriously, the touch screen is very, very nice.
I totally agree with Barry!... that was my exact same experience.... physical keyboards have their own advantages but I think touchscreen surpasses them...
- Bigger Screen
- Faster to Select Icons
- Faster to scroll list
- You will also get icons for quick actions (delete, tap for scroll, zoom, send, etc) instead of learning letter shortcuts
- You get more typing options (multi-tap, qwerty portrait, qwerty landscape and suretype)
at the end it comes down to personal preference... I could not go back to a small non-touch screen again... after I got used to it, I type faster and with less mistakes than with a Curve, Bold, Pearl, Flip and iPhone!... (my experience with the Bold is little) but you get the point
Any new device takes getting used to. The onscreen keyboard is pretty slick. I like the Suretype for portrait, although it has some learning curve it fits my fingers better. The landscape mode one is good too. When you hover over a key it turns blue. I kinda like the key popup on the iphone better, but you can enable something similar on the Storm2. In settings, screen/keyboard set "Show Key Indicator" to always.
Have fun with it. Battery life is ok, but not great. I bought the Sedio extended battery and a charger. For the days I am out on the road I bring both.
