Default Storm 2 NO 3G? WHY?

Please Login to Remove!

Why did BB not bring the Storm 2 out with 3G?

Is there a reason for this?

Thanks

Kevin

GPRS = 2G
3G = 3G
H (HSPA/HSDPA) = 3.5G

Its slightly faster than 3G.

Storm2 is released by Verizon as a "3G World Phone". With that said, the phone is primary operate on Verizon CDMA Rev.A Network (3G), but will also operate on GSM 2100MHz HSDPA (3G) and Quad-band GSM GPRS/EDGE (2G and 2.5G).

Since North American GSM HSDPA is not operate on 2100MHz, therefore, if you are using Storm2 in US with GSM carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.), you will not be able to utilizing HSDPA (3G) network.

So am i right in saying that the storm 2 can do anything and everything the new bold 9700 can do?

This is a decision for a company to make to by multiple phones.

Thanks

If you are pushing for your firm to buy either the Storm 2 or the BB Bold, you better get some user input as well. From what I have read and heard, users either love the Storm or hate it. Not much in-between. The toughest part to get used to is the touch scree,

Which Storm model are you considering? And where are you located? Are you considering the Verizon Storm 9530/9550 or the 9520 for Europe and Asia?

We are located in South Africa and we are looking at the Storm 2. We will be needing 3g or as i have now learnt HSPA (3.5g)

We are looking for the best functionality in a BB. Most of us are currently on the 8310 curve and 8520 curve.

The touch screen seems great as the size of the screen is very important to us, in saying that we dont want to go for the Storm if it has lesser functionality...

Personally i love the storm and have played around with it on a number of occasions.

But like i say functionality and connectivity is very important to us.

Kevin, start off by defining exactly which mode of the Storm2? There are two 9520, and 9550.

You won't get 3G on the 9550 on MTN if that is your carrier, you might get it with the 9520.

IMHO, you need to pick your carrier first, then the device. The device is no good if you don't have service.
