Clear the log files.... I am not sure if 9530 is the same... but in the 9550 you have to set the "show keyboard" to a convenience key and make it show in your home screen.... and then hit the keys inside the parenthesis:

- If using suretype (!?123) + (,)(5)(,)(5)
- If using qwerty (!?123) + (")(/)(")(/)

You will see an endless list... hit menu and "Clear Log"

Waste of time. Does virtually nothing. Should never be suggested as a troubleshooting step.

I used to think that, but I came across to 2 different occasions with my Blackberry Flip and with my Storm 2 where they were both sluggish and I couldn't find the answer...

The reason for the Flip being sluggish (more than usual) was because it was stored on my bedstand with auto-on and auto-off and day after day logging that process... anyway one day I wanted to try it out and it was ridiculously slow... like trying to move from 1 icon to another litterally took 20 sec... so I end up clearing logs and disablying the Auto-On/Off feature... and it was instantly fixed...

Something similar happened to my Storm... and I clear my logs few times a week... works like a charm...

So dont tell me what suggestion is or not useful... because it was a personal experience... I was only giving an advice that might work if it doesn't there is no harm done....

Jkromano... do you have the Auto-On/Off feature enabled in your phone???

I had a LOT of memory leak do to the use of that feature...

Also you should try under:

-Options
-Security Options
-Advanced Security Options
-Memory Cleaning

Hit menu and Clean Now....

Though I think THIS is actually the one that does virtually nothing, since rebooting will do it anyway... but its worth a shot anyway

By the way... that article shows a complete different issue to what the original poster is asking....

He said "The screen keeps freezing up and the phone works at a snail's pace" no mention of any data or network related problems...

So in this point of view your comment is a more waste of time than mine...

The "freezing up" and "snail's pace speeds" are likely caused by the data issues being reported on T-Mobile's network.

Memory cleaning?! Are you serious? Do you even know what that feature does?
It's certainly not going to increase performance. There's a reason it's an advanced security feature. Do some homework.
Please, go back to clearing your logs and maybe come back when you have some idea what you're talking about.

This ^^ Memory Cleaning is worthless to increase performance, it will actually do the reverse.

Memory Cleaning, for your information ONLY wipes the "already-deleted" memory space on your device to a higher government standard. If you're a member of the CIA, FBI, MI5 or KGB, or a child-p0rn trader, then it might be worthwhile. Otherwise, disable it. It does NOT increase free memory.

penguin3107...

You dont have to be an A$$hole... you might be the wise god of BB but there is absolutely no reason to be such a dick about it... my first post in this thread was in a helpful manner, looking for a possible solution to OP....
It does not hurt to try and like I said, to me that was very helpful in 2 occasions...

I was wrong with the memory cleaning suggestion.. but then again... im not being the a$$hole you are....

Your article brings no solution to the thread....

I still remember when I came here first time looking for help and happily people reply fast and friendly...
Maybe somewhere along your 10000 post you forgot what it feels like...

It is VERY important that people here learn a bit before posting....
Memory Cleaning and removing the logs, as has been posted here over and over, do NOT help improve BlackBerry performance.

I've said it before and will say it again, and again. Read More, Post Less.

What do you mean by "restarting"? A battery pull perhaps? If you have not done a battery pull, then give that a try. It will fix many different problems.
