OK, couple things. I was gone awhile, just got back.
I had logged on AT&T https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html and Registered to use email on the interprise email and it seems to be working as I'm getting email from gmail now.

Do I still need to do the other? I got this far and ran into trouble:
I did:
1. Download the ATT service books here. Unzip the file on your PC and remember where you placed the file on your PC.

2. On the PC, go to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\**your OS version**\Java.
Create a new folder and name is ATT. Find the .cod named net_rim_bb_browser_daemon and move the cod to your new folder.

when I tried:
3. Plug in device and open DM > AppLoader >
(I'm assuming BlackBerry Desktop Software is DM?)
When I clicked on the "applications" icon, I get this message:
"The list of applications from your device couldn't be loaded"
Now what? I've loaded the Blackberry USB & Modem drivers.

(I don't have a media card in the phone... does that matter?)

I give up. Too much hassle. I sold the phone today.
Tomorrow I go down to AT&T and buy me a new BB Torch from AT&T.

Never again I'll get an unlocked phone from another carrier.

Jack, you're having trouble with the 9530 on ATT had nothing at all with being an unlocked device. Sorry you couldn't get it. The directions are pretty specific, so questions like "do I still need to do..." are sorta unnecessary and redundant. Hope you get a device you can use.

And, yes, I've done this process over 100 times.

You're welcome.

See, that ^^ indicates you weren't following the instructions.

I was being cautious. I didn't want to do something that wouldn't damage the phone. So I asked. I DID install the OS on my computer and asked questions after that just to be sure.

You have to remember, for you it is easy... after all you've done it over a 100 times. For someone who has never done it, it can be very confusing.

And the reason I decided to sell the phone and just get one that already works on AT&T. I think the BB Torch will be a nice phone.

Anyways... thanks for trying to help a dummy like me...

You'll love the Torch and trust me, much less OS maintenance than you'd have with a 9530 on ATT.
