Seems to me that with an earlier version of the Desktop software, you could transfer data to the BB.

Now, with the version I have, 6.0.2.44, there are only ways to transfer music, pictures, video. No data.

Do I need a different app. to do this?

Not sure what you are remembering, unless you mean mass storage mode.


EDIT: Maybe you are thinking of the older versions of Desktop Manager that had the media manager plugin? At any rate, if you want to copy/move files to/from the BlackBerry microSD media card, enable mass storage mode in the BlackBerry options, and the microSD card will appear as a drive on the computer (in case you weren't aware of this feature).

I think you're probably right about the mass storage option.

Yet, I have a spreadsheet which I am glad to be able to view using Docs
to Go, which I'm pretty sure I used the Desktop to transfer. Unless I'm thinking of an earlier SmartPhone. Puzzling, that they wouldn't include a simple feature like file transfer.
