I don't think it is worth starting a new thread, but I just called sprints customer service to find out about pre ordering the tour so I don't have to potentially wait a long time to get the tour and the rep did not know anything about the new blackberry. After I told him it was on the home page of sprint.com he put me on hold to check and basically read it off to me.

My brother has 7 lines on his account and is going to be putting our sister on his account with the tour since she has the bold on AT&T and paying too much for unlimited everything. The customer service rep he talked to got everything started so they basically walk into the store and pick it up (from what my brother told me. He is very much a generalist than someone who pays attention to specifics which bugs the crap out of me since I am in accounting and we work together ).

When I had Verizon everyone I talked to knew a LOT about the products and services they sold, sad sprint isn't the same way.

To make sure this thread doesn't get far off topic, is anyone having problems pre-ordering the tour on verizon now?

I'm not a corporate user, and I've been with VZW for several years now and I had no trouble upgrading my phone (online, pre order) yesterday.

Default PRE-ORDER finally unlocked for corporate discounts!! - 07-11-2009, 09:31 PM

That's awesome!! I checked it this afternoon and it was a go. I'm very grateful I'm not going to have to wait around my local store. the normal wait at my local store is at least an hour, possibly two. Even with a moderate increase of Tour hopefuls would have made the longer wait unbearable.

Hmmm, my corporate page doesn't have the Tour listed. Who do I call?

I just signed into MyVerizon and it had the Tour added to my list of options now. I don't have a "corporate" account, I just get my companies employee discount. I just assumed that when the option became available to me, it also became available to others corporate discount users.
Maybe my letter to Verizon did help, I'm not sure. I posted my letter to Verizon (titled as such) that I sent them in rants and raves. They did not acknowledge it to my email address. I would be really interested to know if *****ing to them really helped.

Sprint has no such restrictions on who can pre-order the Tour. Of course now it's no longer "pre" order. You order it today and get it by Tuesday. Sprint doesn't have have them in stock, nor do they have a demo unit. WTF?! I just don't get how they do things at Sprint. They won't have store stock until late August according to the latest info I have. But the stores can order it and you pick it up at the store in a day or two.

They pulled similar shenanigans with the Palm Pre launch. Sprint refused to allow demo units until the day of launch. Store reps had to take mandatory Pre training, received their own personal unit, but were forbidden to activate it for a month! And they got a dozen or so emails warning them of all the bad things that would befall them if they even allowed a customer a glimpse of their Pre.

I can understand telling the store reps they cannot buy the hot new device right away, especially if it's in supposedly short supply. But hell, they GAVE one to store reps. So why then did they ban activating the thing?!? The only reason to give one to a rep is so he can be more knowledgeable about it come launch day. So then Sprint disallows activation, crippling the user experience and leaving the reps in the dark about how well certain features work?! Who makes these kinds of decisions, the 3 Stooges? This has Curly written all over it!

Yea...and who is shipping it. Most shipping places don't do much on Sundays.

Should have clarified that. Ordered it today and Fedex has the shipping instructions. Obviously it won't ship until Monday and arrive on Tuesday. The point being that it didn't matter whether you could pre-order it or not.

That's exactly what my local Sprint store offered. Order it on Sunday, they put the order through on Monday morning, and you get it Tuesday.
