Default Phantom message alerts?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm going crazy .. I keep getting a message alert showing an unread email and there is nothing in the "inbox" as well I went through all the folders .. nothing.

I even used desktop manager / advanced backup and cleared any database to do with messages .. and it came back!!

Anyone else see this?

I'm getting red flashing LED when I have no new messages. I can't figure out what else could be causing this. I was at about 50% battery at the time and I had signal.

Could be an SMS text message. Check that out.

Or the Gmail app, if you have it installed.

In the Gmail app, goto Settings > 'Notify me when there is new mail in my Inbox'.

Do you have Weatherbug installed? After I checked all of my messages this AM, all of my on-screen indicators were gone, but the status light was still blinking red - like I had an unread message. It ended up being a Weatherbug fog alert. Unfortunately, I haven't found the option to disable Weatherbug alerts yet...

Edit: Looks like the alerts can be disabled, but it's tied to the app's ability to update your homescreen icon to display the current weather conditions. booo.

Just in case you've installed these apps, I've noticed that the LED also indicates when you have unread tweets (UberTwitter), FaceBook, etc.

If you are getting VM notifications, call yourself from another phone and leave a message. When you go to retrieve that message delete it and stay on the line for another few seconds before hanging up. This took care of my VM notifications with Sprint. Take you time hanging up whenever deleting a voicemail. It seemed I was getting in a hurry to hang up and the system didn't have time to finish it's task.

Peg gets the prize - I found that is was visual voice mail and the message deletion didn't register. Calling voicemail triggered it to clear.

I was going nuts looking around for what was causing it!

I had this problem and no new messages--it was driving me nuts!! Apparently I had an update waiting in my VZAppZone. As soon as I updated and re-booted, the message alert disappeared.
